Nyirabirare, Leokadia (N. Birare)
- Country: Refugee from DR Congo
- Lives at Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Leokadia has baby twins, a daughter and an orphan to care for.
If given a loan, Reokadia would purchase a female goat with a kid, as well as supplies to farm maize and beans. After feeding her family she would sell the rest of the produce at the market.
Leokadia explains "Almost all of my family died in the war, including my husband. I was able to escape with our daughter Agnes Martha and neighbors to Uganda."
"While at the refugee camp, I was miserably sick and thought I would die. I was admitted to the general hospital where a neighbor cared for me and dug for me a small garden. This man had lost his wife due to malaria. We decided to help each other and married."
"Last year I was pregnant and gave birth to twins. The girl is named N. Rukundo Anna which means "love" because the man had love and rescued my life. The boy is named Ndagije Amos which means "I am in hands of God". My older daughter is named Agnes Martha."
"I thank you very much for this project; we have hope and we are now very strong. I wait to hear from you."
