Nyirabagene, Stephania
- Born: 1991 (~17)
- Country: Refugee from DR Congo
- Lives at Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Uganda
Stephania is 17 years old and has one baby son named Edwin . Her father was killed by rebels in DR Congo. She currently lives with her elderly mother.
Stephania would like a loan to buy and resell agricultural products. She would buy two jericans of palm oil and beans. Stephania and her mother will help each other sell the palm oil to neighbors. She plans to sell her agricultural products at the local market "especially to people from Hoima who come to the market."
Stephania explains "I was defiled by evil men and they left me pregnant. This is because I stayed at home alone most of the time. Sometimes I worked in the bush digging (farming) with nobody to defend me. I gave birth to a baby boy named Edwin as mentioned above. This is one of the burdens I cannot lift alone to look after this kid, I am still too young. I was a pupil but now I can't afford scholastic materials or basic necessities for myself and the child."
"This is why I am getting this chance to apply for a loan. With the loan I can make a business and be able to go back to school, help the kid and my mother. I wait to hear from you. Thank you."

UPDATE:01-09: We met Stephania, Edwin and her mother during our visit. Stephania is a sweet girl and a member of Coburwas. She and her mother proudly showed us the pig Stephania purchased with some of the earnings from her business. (Note: Antoinette told us Stephania has chest pains that bother her when she tries to do strenuous work.)
2010: Stephania has repaid her loan and is going to school.
