I was born in 1986 in my former country Congo DR. My father had two wives and I am a boy from the second wife. I was born when my father's first wife had produced seven boys. I am the third child from my mother's home (my father's second wife). When my elder brothers were married they were given all gardens and other properties, and after that the first wife died. After her death my mother came to look after the family, and she also produced 8 children. My father is 75 years old and can do nothing; he performed heavy work when younger and now can't work. We get food through farming and it's very hard due to such big family. All our basic needs are very hard to get and so studying (education) is not easy and none of us can say that education will be provided. We have a problem of poverty and so I can't go to school.

Since 2001 I am a refugee in Uganda. Through the United Nations (UN) I was assisted in getting food and primary education for two years. I stopped for one year and life has become very sour and worse. The UN has said no more assistance because their budget is very low and now I have no hope for future education. I struggle for food and clothes for myself and for my young brothers.

There are seven people in house; if one of us is helped to go to school the rest will be helped instead of all of us becoming illiterate. This is the reason I ask for assistance to go to school.

There is heavy rainfall; work is hard in this season. Crops often spoil due to the heavy rainfall and harvest will decrease causing hunger among the people.

Life in Kyangwali is very hard in every aspect, no one has hope for a better life in the future, and getting basic needs is difficult. Education is our only hope, apart from this we don't know what to do.
